Victoria Smith is Head of Philanthropy for Shelter overseeing the Major Donor, High Value Events and Prospect Research functions. She has worked across high value fundraising disciplines for several years covering a range of causes from hospice care to international human rights and prior to that was communications lead and bid specialist in the private sector. Throughout her career she has focused on the importance of relationship management and effective communications and this is at the heart of her approach to developing any fundraising strategy. Beyond her day job Victoria is a trustee of grant maker Baron Davenport’s Charity, giving around £1 million in grants each year across the West Midlands and was a former trustee of disability charity Focus Birmingham, along with holding a number of other governance roles. In 2018 Victoria completed her MSc in Fundraising and Marketing at Cass Business School’s Centre for Charity Effectiveness.
